I don't believe there is such a thing as a coupon or discount or whatever for JiveTalk.

$20 or $30. If i even had a 10% coupon, you'd be saving 2 or 3 dollars. Seriously, why?

While we're on the topic, do most people buy the $30 transferrable license, or gamble on the $20 one? I'm using it right now and I really like it. It seems definitely worth getting to me.

I bought the $30 license as I know I will probably upgrade the BlackBerry at some point. And even if I stay with the same model, if something should happen to it (i.e. break or have to be replaced) I wouldn't have to pay again.

Ahhh, that's a good point. I guess you get stuck even if your BB dies, eh? Mmmm, well, I have 27 days or so to decide. :p

I think the device license covers you if your BB dies.

It doesn't say on their website, from what I can see, but hopefully they'd be nice about that.

It was posted in this forum that the device license would transfer if your BB died on you. Not sure what exact post, but search around you should be able to find it.

Really? If so, then that's really nice of the developer because it's kinda hard to prove that you indeed had to replace your BB due to damage, etc and not using that excuse to transfer it to a new device. I'll probably get the $30 version just to save myself the headache down the road.

The device license is good whether the BB dies or you just buy another one, or want your license transferred to another BB, and you kill the license on the old one.

So, yes you get a $10 discount if you only want the device license...

I'm confused here though. If it dies, you get a new BB with a different PIN. So how would you go about trasferring a device license?

You can't transfer a "DEVICE" license ($20). It is licensed to the device.

A personal "USER" license ($30) is yours to move between devices.

There is no discount.

So, if you have a user license, you email the developer and give them the old PIN and new PIN. I believe will get back a new license key.
