Usually every carrier has a site from which you can browse from your PC to send SMS messages.

I'm not sure I understand the second part of your sentence.

I think yahoo is supposed to be coming out today with the feature you are requesting as well. This is assuming I just heard what I thought I heard in the tv.

There's always teleflip (10-digit-number@teleflip.com) or the other SMS/MMS email gateways. Most BlackBerrys and most PCs are on an "unlimited" data plan, so this can make sense. And when the recipient replies to your message, you receive the reply back as a email rathan than an "expensive" SMS message.
