I checked out Handango, there aren't any that sync with quicken. Ascendo Money and Mobile Checkbook say they "integrate" with Quicken, but neither one "sync" with quicken. I did a trial of Ascendo, and got so frustrated with the setup of the darn thing that I deleted it within a day. It just doesn't work the way PocketQuicken (for PalmOS) does.

I also checked with Intuit - they don't know of any program that sync's with Quicken. They sent me to Landware - and all they have is PalmOS and WinMobile.

I got you. I would love that functionality too, as Quicken is a great product. Hope something comes out for it.

You'd think Quicken would put something out for the BB already!

I'd be the first one to buy it if they did.

Not really, if you read the fine print it says they "integrate with quicken" - we're all looking for a direct sync.

I contacted Quicken and I was directed by them to a product called Pocket Quicken.

Pocket Quicken

I contacted them about a version for the BlabkBerry and then said it was something that they they were working on, but that they didn't have an issue date. Maybe if enough of us contact them, they will see we are interested. Can't hurt.

I don't know....

LandWare is pretty bad as far as updating their applications, except for Palm products which is what they started with. I had purchased Pocket Quicken for the Pocket PC when it was initially released and then discovered that, while it did sync with Quicken on your desktop PC, it would not update the PC with the transactions you edited on the Pocket PC. In other words it was a pure one-way sync: Desktop PC to PPC. Nothing would go the other way. You could create transactions on the PPC but they would not sync! At first they didn't seem to understand why that was a problem for users.

Finally they released an update to address the one-way sync problem -- but all it sis was prevent you from creating or editing anything at all on the PPC!

I think it was more than two years after its initial release that they finally released a version that could sync both ways, but it was severely lacking in other areas - couldn't create or view reports and a few other problems. By then I had long ago given up on LandWare's Pocket Quicken and purchased Cash Organizer for PPC - full sync both ways and the ability to create custom reports on the PPC - though the reports cannot sync.

Cash Organizer was about perfect, but they only develop for Windows Mobile.

EDIT: BTW, the whole point of this post is..... Don't hold your breath waiting for them to develop a version for Blackberry!!

Default Pocket Quicken for the BB

I think this is pretty much covered that Landware doesn't make a Blackberry version, but I emailed them to ask if they had any plans for a Blackberry version in the near future since they added a Windows Smartphone version this year.

Landware's response:
Many thanks for your interest in Pocket Quicken for the Blackberry. While we are investigating what might be possible, we have nothing official to announce at this time. If we do, you will receive an email from us.

Wouldn't mind seeing Quicken for BB, too. However, I'm not sure just how I'd use it.

Pretty funny. I emailed them a couple of days ago and just got the IDENTICAL response. As an earlier poster said, I guess I'd better not hold my breath waiting for a BB version of Pocket Quicken...

Default Getting Pocket Quicken on my BB

Handango now says that they have Pocket Quicken (PQ) for BlackBerry.

I used PQ when I had a Palm and it was pretty good, but could not compare to the ease of using Quicken on the computer. I downloaded a test version to see how I liked it before I spent the $39.99, but could not get it downloaded to my BB. I tired just connecting it with the Desktop Manager open and closed, but never any luck. It never seemed to recognize that my BB was attached. I tried to access the application through the application addon in the Desktop Manager, but it would not recognize the PQ download since it is only an .exe file. I even tried to access it directly from my BB browser, but that didn't work.

I really like PQ, so would like to try it on my BB. Has anyone had any luck in using PQ, or even suggestions as to how to download an application onto my BB.

Thanks

PKMass,

I see that page for PQ on the Handango Blackberry section, too. But there are no BlackBerry models listed in the supported devices. I think that must be a mistake or something isn't working correctly on Handango. I'd try contacting them about it. It's rather misleading by suggesting the app is for BlackBerry when it is not.

I couldn't find it originally and even looked for it on Quicken's website, but nothing is shown for BB. I just did the trial download at Handango for a 8320 and on install the error is:

"Pocket Quicken 2.5: Installation Aborted
.... If you wish to use a Palm Based handheld, you must download the Palm installer for this application by visiting landwire.com :: this domain is for sale ...

If you wish to synchronize this application with a Pocket PC based handheld, you must obtain ActiveSync ..."

No BB mentioned, and at any rate it didn't install. Looks like an error on Handango's website.
