Default The case of the missing Google Talk icon - 08-30-2007, 01:56 PM

I installed Google Talk on my unlocked Curve running o2 and zen theme, and the icon is nowhere to be found. It is listed in the application menu under options, and it is not hidden.

I have thoroughly searched the board and found several threads with people who had this problem -- but no answers other than "don't use google talk."

Has this ever been fixed? Thanks!

I had the same thing happen, but i saw it leave.
I loaded a piece of software and the apploader removed it.

Here is an update. I emailed the blackberry support address listed on the website and got this response:

"Based on the PIN number that was provided this BlackBerry smartphone was purchased from AT&T and AT&T does not support Google Talk on their BlackBerry smartphones."

As a reminder, I am using an unlocked 8300 on Tmobile.

Is this person right? Has anyone else gotten Google Talk to work on a curve? Thanks.

Jivetalk costs money and it doesn't handle Gmail chat (as opposed to google chat), right? That's why I need Google Talk.

I agree the RIM Google Talk client is the best.......

I would guess that if it is being hidden because it was originally an ATT device, the same technique used to hide BB Maps is being used to hide the GTalk icon.... Search for the procedure to fix that, and I bet the same technique could be used to show the GTalk icon.
