Default Second Calendar? - 08-30-2007, 09:32 PM

I need a second calendar app on my 8830. I don't want to replace my calendar... just add a second one.

I've done some searching and I get the impression this can't be done... but I can't imagine why. So I thought I'd just come out and ask.

I have my BB Calendar app that I sync with iCal. But I also want a calendar that I will only use to keep track of when 30 employees are on vacation or have time off. I don't want to clog up my main calendar with this info. I don't even need to sync this with iCal (or anything else). I just need the info on my BB. It would only have to be the most basic of calendars.

So... how do I do this? Is there a way to add a third party app that doesn't rely on my main calendar's database (if I don't sync it)?

I'm hoping I'm just an idiot and this is easy to do. Anyone?

I have not heard of any app that will "add" another calendar to the device.

I think u can just create a google account and check your google calendar. To access or modify your account u point your browser to www.google.com/caledar/m and by the way, i think there is even an app that can access your google calendar. The name of the app i cant remember right now, anyone??
hope this helps,
yanni

I had the impression that this app just let's you sync your BB calendar with Google calendars.

Is there a way to access google calendar without overwriting my normal BB calendar? Because that would work for me, if possible.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.8993/58; U; en))

I believe there is only one calendar available on the BlackBerry device. I haven't seen any other programs that allow you to do what you are looking for.

Just for my own knowledge (I'm just beginning to learn about blackberry), is there just a lack of demand for a second calendar or is there something about the blackberry or the calendar database that keeps this from being possible?

Thanks.

I am not too sure on that. I believe most people find one calendar to be sufficient, but I can definitely see the value of being able to store multiple calendars (personal, business, etc). I know I would love to see that in the BlackBerry in the future. To be able to keep a BES-sync'd calendar separate from a BIS one would be really nice.
