Thanks for the tip. I gave it a shot, hoping it would work, but it didn't. After I downgraded (and it didn't work), I upgraded to a version which I hadn't tried before and that didn't work either.

Definitely puzzling. I suppose I could delete DataVault off my BB periodically, then reinstall and sync to make sure my phone has the newest info, but what a hassle that would be! I had migrated from SplashID because SplashID doesn't do autofill with Firefox (get with the times already!).

Oh, I also uninstalled and reinstalled DataVault on my laptop, but that didn't help things either. It still just goes through the motions of syncing, but changes on my laptop aren't reflected on my phone. =S

Any other tips? I'm curious why most people seem to have no issues and I can't get mine to work no matter what I try. Could it be related to my laptop itself... Vista issue, perhaps? Or maybe it's just my phone being lame?

Interesting. Not sure what else to suggest. I am running DataVault 4.4 on my PC, 4.41 on the BB, and as mentioned, DM 4.2 SP2. No issues.

Of course, I am running XP. Do you have an XP machine at your disposal that you could try this on?

I noticed that 4.5 came out but I'm not able to install it via the BB Desktop Manager. When I attempt to go OTA and use the DataVault Loader, it takes me to the older 4.1 version, not the 4.5. Anyone have a link for the new version?

Do you mean 4.4.5?

Did you try installing the .alx file instead of the .cod file? I think Ascendo says the .alx file is within the subdirectory matching your phone's OS (ex. os_4.6), but it's actually just in the BlackBerry folder:

...\AscendoDataVaultV4_4_5BB\BlackBerry

When you browse and find the .alx file with Desktop Manager, it will install version 4.4.5.

(Thanks for sharing that they came out with the newer build. I didn't realize they had a newer one out. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it fixed my sync problem - I'm still having issues. But maybe it'll work for you.)

Yes, I did everything I was suppose to. Attempted to contact Ascendo with very dissapointed results. I tried to explain my inability to install via the Desktop Manager and got a run around. Then I was told to use the 4.4.1 version.

Based upon this and the sync issue, I'm looking for another program. Buyers beware!!

I use it.

I LOVE it.

Also, no trouble with 4.5.0.77

If there's a finer secure data storage utility around, I sure don't know of it.

Wirelessly posted

I suspect that you might have a problem with timing and expectations. I too have had nothing but superb interactions with them. Hopefully your experiences will turn around.

Is anyone syncing successfully with Desktop Manager 4.6 I've been using Ascendo Data Vault for about a year without any problems but know when I try to sync with Desktop manager 4.6 it crashes :( .. It has synced successfully with 4.6 before but it just stopped working 2 days ago

BDM 4.5
Curve 8330
OS 4.5.0.77
Ascendo Data Vault 4.4 (Desktop)
Ascendo Data Vault 4.4.5 (BlackBerry)
Windows XP SP3
Outlook 2007

Any thoughts, I'm gonna try to revert back to Desktop Manager 4.5 or 4.3 later on.

FYI I've been fine with DM 4.5 with Outlook 2003 and OS 4.2.2. There are too many variables in my setup for a good comparison.

Having switched last year from a long line of Treos to the BlackBerry (Pearl, then Curve, both on Sprint) I went looking for something to replace Passwords Plus. Since the BB's native password manager is BB only, and I need a desktop component, I started looking around.

I found only SplashID, and, figuring it would be great on the BB since, while not my favorite on the Palm, it was sort of the standard, I bought it. I found the program's user interface on the BB to be quite sub-par, difficult to use, and even buggy, and after using it for some time, thinking it was the only game in town, I went searching again! I found and tried MiniSafe, but it would not import my SplashID file (even though their web site says it will do that; their tech support said it can't import it). Then, fortunately I found Ascendo DataVault. I installed it and haven't looked back.

The program is very solid, on both the BB and Windows, very intuitive and works well for me. The developer welcomed my feedback on how to make the Windows user interface even better, and gave me an great upgrade price as an owner of SplashID.

Happy customer, busily using the basic functions of the product while exploring its more advanced capabilities when I have time

I hope this is the appropriate place to post my query.

Bold OS 4.6.0.162
DataVault version 4.4.5
Desktop Manager version 4.6.0.12.

I am a happy user of this app, and was on BIS until a couple of months ago when I joined my current firm and hooked up to our BES. I also have limited admin access to our firm's BES Desktop Manger.

I was sync'ing perfectly fine on BIS and my personal computer via USB. Since going to BES, I have only one thing that isn't sync'ing, which is obviously my Ascendo DataVault app. I tried using the USB cable and my Desktop Manager to sync only my Add-ins (turned off sync'ing to Outlook email, contacts, memo, etc). Instead of sync'ing, I am forced to save a DataVaultSync.dmp file to a folder on my computer.

As well, after this happens, I can't launch DataVault on my computer. Nothing happens until I reboot the machine.

My query is: How can I continue sync'ing my DataVault app under an activated Enterprise Server set up?

Burton
