I've read throught he threads but I am undecided. If I am going to spend the money on a program that converts voicemails to emails, what program would you recommend and why? I have a verizon 8830. I know that not all programs are compatable with verizon or this device. All I am looking for is a program that is simple, works consistantly and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To go from Voicemail to Email you need a service, not a program. There are a few available, I just read a review about one, sorry but I don't recall the service, I think it was on cnet. In short, they said the service wasn't perfect but you would get the an email with the general idea of the subject.

Simuscribe seemed to get a lot of talk here as they were/are giving out free voicemail boxes so you can get a visual voicemail experience free; I perfer grandcentral.com. Personally, I'd love a voicemail to email service as I receive sometimes 10 or 15 voicemails a day. However, with that volume and at $0.25 each, I'll spend more on that service than on my cell service.

My recommendation, go with grandcentral, if you can getan invite, simulscribe or one of the other web based voicemail services. They are free and you get an much easier to manage voicemail system. If you can afford it go for the voicemail to text services; you can get a free trial.

I use CallWave.com and love it. Its in beta and for now its free. From my understanding its been in "beta" a long time.

I'm giving callwave a shot. When I'm signing up it asks for my pin. Is this referring to my BB pin?

Using call wave. So far it does everything it claims. No issues yet. Best part is it's free! (for now anyways- while in beta). You don't have to pay the 10 bucks a month or .25 cents per message.

Wonder how long that "free" will last. My at&t account rep told me that they will partner with Spinvox and will be offering that service soon as an add-on. She has been beta testing this since last December.

I'll milk it while it lasts. I really don't want to pay $20+ a month for this service. If it's reasonable and it continues to function properly while I have it I would consider paying for it. As long as it's reasonable.

any sprint customers tried callwave?

I tried to get it working on Sprint, but it seems with Sprint your only option is to forward all calls directly to the number, so that your phone doesn't ring at all.

I tried callwave but it had trouble understanding anyone with an accent so its not very useful to me since alot of my contractors are hispanic.

and I had to call verizon to get the call forwarding removed once I deleted my account it wouldnt releease and messed up my voicemail for a week before I figured it out.

Yes, it does have issues if you have an accent, but you will still get the general idea of what they said on the message. The text isn't 100% accurate but atleast it works and its free. So far so good.

Sweet - I just set up my Pearl. The website is a bit buggy (just sent an email to support@) but if you beat it up enough you can get your PIN changed and get the service to send a plain text email with the MP3 attachment.

So, can anyone tell me why I can't listen to the MP3 that's attached to the email? It's going to Yahoo (downloads/plays fine there) first then picked up by T-Mobile BIS to my device. Is MP3 in email not supported in BIS? (it tries to play but then says 0.0k and ....sits there)

EDIT: I saved the MP3 from Yahoo and pushed onto my SD card then played, works fine - so it's not some strange bitrate encoding snafu with the MP3

So does you mail also send the VM to your phone in a text format? Will it work for verizon as well? Some of the features seem pretty cool. ie- diffrent voicemail greetings for different callers.

it works with verizon but just be warned its very agrivating because it totally replaces your reg vm and it was just a bit to much for me. and the directions they give you to delete it off your phone doesnt work I didnt get any vm for nearly two weeks when I figured out it was still going to callwave and wasnt getting notified

It can send the VM as an attached MP3 via email - be sure to go into the webUI and change the email format from HTML to Plain Text.

@Dawg: I read the section in the FAQ on resetting the VM to, say, T-Mobile - it looks pretty straightforward to me? Haven't done it yet but I saved the previous VM number into a memo and all that.
