deleted the program after 2 mins had it installed, will reconsider after the program is fully ready and totally free of bugs, and the developer "has time" to support his program.

This part really gets to me. He has a great product but if you want people to "test" it for you, you need to be/come around to monitor and respond to issues. Maybe not here but atleast through your email acct listed on your site. I am not trying to rip on him but I have seen lots of bad press basically because he doesn't come around.

I just purchased the B&W but this beta has good ideas and functions but do not work on my BB.

Has anyone that is a registered user been able to contact him and get a response?

Yes I get response, I send a list of bugs I found and not permit even to test if the program work, but only receive a response about he will fix in beta 3 so beta 1 y 2 nobody really test because nobody saw beta 1 and nobody can run beta 2.

I had tested many programs in the past, and the developer always thank you for the bug reports but in this case... well maybe in beta 10 or when "has time"

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

The key is that BlackBerry developers that participate in this (as well as other such forums) need to know their environment. When a developer uses the members of this forum as unpaid testers, the least they can do is be available to support the beta effort in a timely manner -- this is what we've come to expect over time.

I don't seem to remember there being a lack of unpaid testers.

Visortgw I would agree that it would be nice to hear a bit of info, but i have read some of the posts and the tone is a bit concerning, it's almost as if because she or he has dared to develop some new software, then the posters on this thread own him or her body and soul, i just think a little reality wouldn't go amiss with some.

I dont agree with you here. Nobody on this thread is pressing him for anything. Even if there is, maybe he is asking for it.

All I see here is a developer with great idea in developing a great software but totally forgot about his support and communication which is the most important part and the most basic thing he needs in order to make his idea and software a success. Even though you dont have time to answer everyone's question, at least post just one post to let us know what you are up to, to show us at least you still care.

First, as a developer, if you havent had anything ready, you should hold the breath for not posting anything beforehead about having it ready to be downloaded for testing. Then left for days or weeks without any update and communication in the community. Whilst you are putting everyone waiting (which I see everyone including myself waiting patiently) for days and week, then come back with a software that is not fully ready to use. And left again without any support/update/communication.

I understand everyone have a life, as I have to deal with many over demanding customers myself in my job. But, I also understand that if I have let 1 customer waiting for more than a few hours without any communication in between, I am actually losing more than 1 business opportunity. Because in this society nowadays, words spread really quick and almost everyone are relying on "feedback" before spending a dime of their hard earn money on anything.

Cheers.

All of this is getting blown out of proportion. I think the developer is just having trouble with the app. He is still supporting his other stuff extremely well. I emailed him two days ago and had a response in 3 hours. He "shoulda, coulda woulda" doesn't really matter. It's his/her app and they can do whatever they like. No use getting worked up over small details.

If you don't have B & WL try it out. It works. I'm on 1.27 and it's great. He's got the beta 1.28 for free until the end of the month AND it's a smart way to lock in the price of iCall when a decent version comes out. Handango sells B & WL for 9.35 so I assume that since iCall will be able to do so much more he/she will charge more for it than B&WL. Soleil Chapain (developer) already stated that it would be a free upgrade to iCall...just makes sense.

I paid as much as you did, quit assuming.

I am saying you are not talking about the fact of the issue, it is NOT about how much you have paid. Are you saying for people who didnt pay, they cannot voice up their opinion?

I am neither complaining or argueing, I am just talking about the issue of the software and the support, not MONEY. Do you have issue with people speaking up their opinion?

Beta 2 was basically not usable due to major bugs. The last that I heard from the developer (about a week ago) was that beta 3 was due out yesterday, but I'm not holding my breath -- hopefully, he will wait until the software is more stable rather than rush it.

This software (or more accurately, this anticipated software!) has generated a lot of heat!

My $0.02:

i,CallManager seems to be a lot more feature-rich than B&W list - it is entirely possible that the developer has found that his time estimates were way off and his speed-to-market is severly compromised.

I completely empathize with everyone who is frustrated with this inexplicable delay. I am frustrated myself!

I'd have expected that the developr would have understood that at such times, over-communication is better because people get misconceptions when they don't have facts, and have them frequently. But this person is a developer, not necessarily a salesperson with communication skills. The fact he / she is not very good in English probably compounds the problem. As I said in an earlier post, let's take the pressure off this person. I'm sure that eventually, we'll all be happy with the product and laugh off the wait.

Cheers!

Apparently, the developer has reverted to a closed (i.e., limited-participant) beta until the "final preview" on or about 18 October.

So let me ask this question: I downloaded B&W and like and want to buy, but have read that iCall Mgr will replace B&W, what should I do here...

Purcahse B&W and then upgrade free is what I am thinking. But if I do that, what version on iCall is stable for use right now or is nothing stable? Just asking. Any help would be great!

I cant believe I went this long without this software!

I purchased 1.28 but also deleted it because it my battery was going dead quickly (half a day) after it was gone - no problems. I really do want this program to work for me but so far, no go.

I hopefully wont have that problem. I have an extended battery, so if I notice anything "funny", I'll inquire.

Thanks, buying B&W now and will then ask the developer about the upgrade path just to be safe. Seems he has been getting back to folks quickly. I knew things would come around for him. Its not easy developing software...

Release day is tomorrow, so hope all is well. I am looking forward to it!

EDIT @ 6:30pm CST - For those interested, it looks like the developer has been publishing point releases as bugs are being found/fixed on the download site: OTA download

This has to be a bug specific to the 8300/8830 model. Mine does the same thing....

"The day" is not until Sunday (28 October), but I am still skeptical given history. Recent releases that I have seen/tried are still not ready for prime time (even though the developer has made significant progress).

My apologies, not sure why I thought today. I guess its safe to say that some have given up because of the lack of updates and stuff. I love the program and its purpose, and will try to wait it out, but it is kind of annoying.

Carrier: t-mobile
Default 10/28 - 10-28-2007, 09:20 PM

Well, it's 10/28 as listed on the website, the final release should be today. I don't see that the website has been changed and the version I downloaded off the mobile site (typed incorrectly on the main page) doesn't seem to be the final version as it doesn't quite work right on my phone. Is there any news on this, has it been delayed?
