Default Blackberry Software Pricing - 09-30-2007, 09:36 AM

Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit curious why aftermarket blackberry software is so expensive? Most pieces of software run in the 25 - 30+ range. Some are even ~50.00?

Considering that Blackberry software is not widely pirated... shouldn't it be cheaper?

Windows Mobile software seems to be more affordable than BB software?

I don't know piracy is so much the issue, but there is (at least for now) a significantly smaller market of RIM users than WM devices, so you either have to sell to a higher percentage of Blackberry users, or charge a higher price to cover expenses.

Also, many of the professional WM products are around $20- 30 now as well.

piracy doesn't make software more expensive.

the volume is less - developers might have to use higher prices to recoup costs and turn a profit.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

If you need it pay the price! Why is windows OS so expensive?

Good old barter system, you have something I (developer) wants "Money", and I have something you (consumer) want "Software", buy it from me or someone else.

I will say, you get what you pay for.

Peronally, I see so much FREE software apps out there for BB. Of the 20+ extra apps on my BB, Only 3-4 had license fees. Pretty darn good, better than I can say for what's on my PC.

Its very simple. BB are mainly for business user that can afford more. Also a much simpler answer would be " because they can"
