I just checked the OTA site, it's listing the same version I currently have. 2007.04.09.42. Perhaps you got a glimpse of good things to come.

It is out. We will be posting a summary of features shortly.

Believe you need to force a BlackBerry browser refresh on the http://REXwireless.com/download pages (especially the one before the download window pops up). BlackBerry browsers seem to have sticky caching that doesn't refresh as quickly as one might imagine it should.

No. ToDoMatrix is now 2007.09.01.42 (If you are on 4.2 OS) or 2007.09.01.40 (If you are on 4.0 or 4.1 OS).

Thanks,

I made the same mistake when I first hit the OTA site as my emulation mode was not set to Blackberry. I changed that and I saw the updated links via the OTA site, after clearing my browser cache as well.

OK. Now I got it I had cleared my cache a couple of times (and the emulation was on BlackBerry) but I kept seeing that old version. Now it is downloading.

Yeah, I got it now. For some reason it was showing that old version. But I have the 2007.09.01.42 version.

Default Wish I could use it!! - 10-01-2007, 07:30 PM

Would love to use todomatrix, but I work for a very large bank with very strict rules, and the rexdesktop website is blocked by the firewalls. So I am stuck hoping that one day there is a desktop companion...

The new version looks AWESOME! trying to edit some of the folder names on Rex Desktop and there's a java problem with the website.

No big deal. The problem arose when I tried to edit a pre-existing role or context. I edited everything from the device and the synchronization worked flawlessly.

I'm really looking forward to that - I hope the folder names are extended like in the latest todoMatrix. I name folders with both a matter name and 7-digit matter number, and have had to truncate some of the names to accommodate the limited field.

I installed the 7D tmx right away, but haven't really had the time to start leveraging the new features yet. I did take the time to read the white paper, which was very helpful.

This company's customer service and product quality are amazing.

wu-wei,

It took me all day yesterday re-organizing my stuff in todoMatrix, but I must say that I feel even more organized than before just by simply having the ability to apply a next action context to some of my importants todos!

Updated my tmx yesterday. The functionality of the old version was good but this is a marked improvement. I for one used 5D quadrants on my Palm device and now that the functionality is in tmx, I am truly loving this version. Can't wait till the new version of IdeaMatrix comes out. Great work, RexWireless

I can't wait, either.

Unfortunately, sounds like IdeaMatrix wasn't given the same amount of attention as ToDoMatrix was.... from what I hear, it'll be a minor upgrade.

Dude, Come on. The ToDoMatrix update was HUGE. That IdeaMatrix "wasn't given the same amount of attention" is entirely understandable.

I'm not even using the Next Action context. Instead with this new version I scrapped all of my existing folders and reorganized it as follows:

Drawers:
  • Inbox
  • Action
  • Someday/Maybe
  • Reference
  • Waiting
All new ToDo's are entered into a General folder within the Inbox drawer. Then once or twice a day, depending on how busy I am and how many new ToDo's are in the Inbox, I stop and "process" everything in my Inbox.

As I process them, I organize them by moving them into the appropriate drawer/folder: Actions, Someday/Maybe, Reference, Waiting. When I determine that a particular ToDo in the Inbox will take more than one action to complete, I create a project - which is a folder in one of the ToDo drawers and I name the folder with the project name. Most are in the Actions drawer, but if they fit they go into Someday/Maybe, Reference, or Waiting. I am up to about 30 Projects/Folders in the Actions drawer.

While processing/organizing I also assign all the other dimensions - Context, Quadrant, Role, and - if it applies - Goal. All ToDo's in the Action drawer get Due Dates, while all undated ToDo's go into the Someday/Maybe drawer. (Except for a few that are placed into Reference or Waiting).

Then I use the various Views and some filters to determine which ToDo's are my Next Actions. For example, all ToDo's that are Past Due or due in the next three days and are in Quadrant 1 (Important and Urgent) are at the top of the filter and are my Next Actions, based on Due Date and Priority/Quadrant.

To me this makes it a perfect GTD tool!

Jim

Hey, I'm THRILLED about all of the ToDoMatrix upgrades and improvements... it's AWSOME!

Only trouble is, I don't have ToDoMatrix, I have IdeaMatrix, and I'm not really looking to get ToDoMatrix.

So, while I'm honestly thrilled for all of the ToDoMatix users, it doesn't do me, or I imagine the other IdeaMatrix only owners all that much good.

Just curious, why is it "That IdeaMatrix wasn't given the same amount of attention" is entirely understandable"???

If YOU only owned IdeaMatrix, would you STILL feel that it's understandable? Did I pay LESS for IdeaMatrix then what others paid for ToDoMatrix? Why would it be understandable that of two, equally priced and marketed products, one would receive major improvements, and the other only minor improvements? What am I missing here?

Hey, Rex gotta do what they gotta do, and they do continue to make improvements. However, again, I'm only using IdeaMatrix, and would love to see some improvements on that front as well... (specifically, the ability to store data on memory cards, ability to change font, size, color on notes, etc.) It's not like IdeaMatrix was less $ then ToDoMatrix.

Overall, I rave about this program (IdeaMatrix) and continue to taut it's attributes, but it is a little disappointing to see ToDo get almost ALL of the improvements. and be told that while a new version of IdeaMatrix will be released this month, there won't be all that many improvements.... oh well...

I can resist anything but temptation.

Fonts are changeable in the current release on the Profile screen. Selecting "User Default" delivers the same font as the rest of your BlackBerry or you can override default with the other choices. Sorry that it is not easy enough to find.

As a general statement, the user wish list was way (WAY) shorter for IdeaMatrix that ToDoMatrix. IdeaMatrix was designed to be simple, straight-forward, and effective. The nature of task management on the other hand, has people doing things lots of different ways. ToDoMatrix needed many more changes to accomodate various methods.

Our new REXwireless discussion forum will be up and running next week and will offer an excellent spot for users to "vote" for suggested enhancements. But, for the most part, we get lots of notes each week about users being happy with IdeaMatrix in its current form. Therefore, its not surprising that the focus in this round was on ToDoMatrix.

Thanks,

I just got my first ToDo popup while the phone was locked and in the holster. In the prior release, the popup window had an issue with the redraw. With this new release, it's completely fixed. The app is very repsonsive. I have colored folders now too!

Best ToDo manager in the world in my opinion. And as I said before, this application is actually a reason in itself to buy a Blackberry. If want to be the guy who is on top of everything, this is the application to have.

Best,

Alex

This is where I want to see this thread or the Rexwireless forum going. I would love to read about how others are using Todomatrix/Ideamatrix to get things done! Whether it's Allen, Covey, a mix of both, neither or some other to do list Guru. I am a firm believer that no matter what tools you have or you use, the only way you are going to get things done is to use that tool so much that it becomes part of your unconscious daily routine. Like brushing your teeth or going to the bathroom first thing in the a.m.

I'm in sales. I have some large named accounts where I am selling different and multiple IT solutions to. I also have smaller bread and butter accounts that pay the bills. As always, I'm also prospecting for new customers on a regular basis. Of course there is my personal and family life, which generates a whole additional slew of projects and actions. I love the fact that I can keep everything in my 8800 and that I have that with me 99% of the time.

My biggest struggle right now is entering every little thing that I need to enter during a given day. I can get so busy with customers/prospects that they will tell me what they need or want me to do and sometimes I don't write it down. That could get me in real trouble down the road. Any suggestions on how you have gotten yourself in the habit of writing down all the thoughts, next actions, etc. that pop into your mind on a minute-by-minute basis?

Thanks!
