Default Google maps 1.6.3 - 10-12-2007, 10:40 PM

Works nicely, hasn't crashed on me yet.
Didn't bother with 1.6.2 since all the bad reviews about it.

So i upgraded from 1.6.1-1.6.3

Its good so far, thought?

Btw to anyone that doesn't no

Have you tried searching for a business and then calling the number from within Google Maps?

Mine's working too but it took some proactive changing of permissions and reboots. It used to install and work with no issues.

I upgraded from 1.6.1 on the 8320 and still get the good old endless loop when I call the business. Annoying. Guess I will have to just not use that feature or set everything to allow.

I installed 1.6.3 and can't get past step 4 in the startup process. All my permissions are set to "allow".... I don't see anything else I can do to fix it.

I get the endless loop asking me if I would authorize by xxxxxx to access the phone feature.

It's a google Maps issue. I just went through it on my 8320.

Here's what I did.

Reboot the device by removing the battery.

Then go into Google Maps and go to Help.

Then after help loads, go down to "Reset Google maps."

Then close google maps.

Go to Options >Advanced Options >Applications.

Highlight Google Maps and hit the menu key and select "Edit Permissions." Change everything you can to "Allow." Pay particular attention to "Phone" under "Connections." Make sure it's set to "Allow."

Save the settings.

Then Reboot the device again by removing the battery.

When it comes back go back into Google Maps. Do a search for anything you want. When you get a result back, Go to details and then select "Call" the number. It may or may not bring up a dialogue that it wants to make a call. Check "Don't ask me again" and select "yes."

It should make the call. Close Google Maps again.

Hopefully that fixes your problem.

I'm here to add my two cents! I complained about 1.6.2 and I'm having similiar if not the same problems with 1.6.3 but not AS bad... I still get this uncaught null exception problem... Dialing out works ok. Dsiabiling the Auto GPS locator i think fixed many of my problems. I think having 1 search feature still allows for to many errors after you search to a location and then want to search for a business...

John, after I followed these, it did work great. However, I've been stuck in GPRS mode ever since... going on a few hours. Any suggestions? I've done battery pulls, and have checked my other Apps... Beyond 411 is running perfect as is Opera Mini, as is Google Maps and Gmail.

Any ideas?

Edit: I take it back, it appears to be going back and forth between GPRS and EDGE (uppercase) very frequently... and has been doing this for several hours (since 5pm east).

This whole time I have been running 1.5.4...didn't know they had any new versions. I just dowloaded 1.6.3 and it works like a charm.

What is new with the latest few versions? I don't see any difference really...

Wirelessly posted (7130e: Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/126)

I'm having the same "new search causes a java error and reboots the program" problem as 1.6.2

It rarely finds my location (even if I'm outside with no clouds) so the search results are wacky unless I include a city name.

I keep getting a "Network Failure" error that I've never seen now that it's installed. I tried uninstalling and resetting, then reinstalling, and it didn't work. Any ideas?

I seriously wish I could downgrade to when there was two different search options. I think part of the reason it crashes is because they're must be a particular way you have to close it out?

Sometimes after minute crashes it loses all searches i've done up to that point and starts over with the last item i asked it to give me directions for...
