Hello everyone,

I have upgraded my 8700g to OS 4.2 and like a lot of people here started having issues with Bluetooth connection to my GPS puck. Therefore I decided to downgrade to OS 4.1 but I can't find it! Can anyone share it with me? T-mobile Customer Service had no clue what I was talking about and I also couldn't find it here.

Thanks in advance.

I know there is a thread on the forums that has all the previous OS's listed. If you can't find it here I have it hosted on my web server.

The address is http://jkccweb.dyndns.org/bb/os/8700_4.1.0_rel529.exe

I downgraded the OS and now it doesn't start!!! Unless it may take a loooooong time to power it up for the 1st time. I can see the eyeglass turning once or twice and then red led comes on and it restarts... The time when I see the eyeglass varies. Anybody any idea what to do?

You may need to wipe your device clean and start from scratch:

WHOA... the hourglass could spin 20-40 mins before reboot... Don't pull the USB too soon!

One guy here yesterday was about to pull the cord at one hour, he finally posted back and said it took exactly 1 hour, 13 minutes, but it booted right up afterward. Be patient.

If you have large phone logs and message logs, it takes a while.

But in my case it looked like the unit was restarting itself every 4 seconds.

Ok. It worked well. Now additional question; Do I have to manually reinstall all the software I had? or is there a way to find it on my computer someplace and reinstall it like restoring automatically? Another thing, I can't see BB browser and links in messages are not working. I can see browser being installed but no access to it.

lol, what worked? Did it install the old OS, or did you have to wipe and reinstall?

Software, as in third-party applications. Yes, if you did a backup, you should it have it. Use Desktop Manager, and Restore > Advanced Restore.

If you didn't do a backup...

I wiped everything off and reinstall 4.1 but now I can't see the BB browser nor T-Zones. Even if I uninstall it in App Loader and then install it again I can't access it.

To get your browser back, you will need to get the service books back, and re-register your phone with the network.
