Hey guys, I was interested in the 8700 until someone mentioned the curve being "that much better" than the 8700. Is the 8700 really that obsolete now? Are the operating systems and such the same? What makes the Curve so much better? Is the 8700 worth trying If I have never owned a BB before?

The Curve has a camera, media card slot, newer OS, better media player, smaller device....The 8700 is a great device, no question. But the 83xx line is even better. The 8310 from AT&T boasts built-in GPS, as well.

^^What he said. Both are great email and internet devices. For the extras like media, mp3s and fun stuff, the 83xx would great. For good tough email and browser device, the 8700 is great.

Are you saying that the curve isn't as good of an Email/Internet phone?

He doesn't know what he's saying. His 'bama football team lost tonight!!

The Curve is an EXCELLENT email/Internet phone. Just that the 8700 is limited to that.

Exactly. They are both great email devices. Equal in that regard.

Will there be a better BB coming out in the near future? Reason I ask is because if I drop the money on a curve, I dont want something better to come out in the near future.

Also thanks guys, I really appreciate your help. Glad you didnt flame me either for asking a question like this. I really appreciate it!

The 8310 and 8320 devices have only been out a short time, so you can bet there won't be an upgrade/addition to this line for awhile.

To be honest, if the fear of a better model coming out delays you from purchase, you may never purchase. Thats the game we BB lovers play.

I went from an 8700c to an 8310, and I could not be happier.

The 8300 hadn't been out long when the 8310 and 8320 came along. Now the 8300 is leaving the lineups. It's just the tech world we live in. There will be a 9xxx series device next year....just life in the fast lane.

One other thing that may be a plus for you, it is for me, is trackwheel vs trackball. I personally love the trackwheel over the trackball.

Very good point. I was a trackwheel lover, and really prefer it to the trackball. There are many that are opposite of myself and buggle though.
