I've just bought my first BB, a used 7250 on eBay. I haven't gotten it yet. I'm gonna have it tomorrow and activate it ASAP. I'm unsure about a sim card. Does the 7250 use one? What if my used doesn't come with one? How do you get a replacement sim card?

Anyone else go the used route? Any helpful tips?

I have Verizon Wireless, if it matters.

Welcome to the Forums.

I understand VZW does not allow devices on it's network which it did not sell. Hopefully the one you have coming is a Verizon-branded device.

Good luck.

And the Verizon 7250 doesn't use a sim card. You have to call Verizon to get the device activated on your account. And as JSanders said, if it's not a Verizon device, they won't activate it.

Thanks for the replies!

What about software updates? If I'm using a device that's a generation old, will the new software updates I read about apply to my device, too?

What about speed? How likely is it that my 7250 will be slower with age?

Yea, you can update the OS on the BB. Just make sure you update it with a CDMA version of the OS.

Time does not slow a BB down, memory issues normally do (overloaded memory).

Come to think of it, that may be my problem, too.

I just won a 7250 from Ebay as well. Going to use the new $35 data only plan from Verizon and get into the blackberry world. They got them at work, but at least my work pays for my normal Verizon phone. I got it for $40 shipped, will pay in a day or so and then should be good to go next week. I plan to go gmail, im, news, maps, etc. I can't wait!

Is it a Verizon branded 7250? If not Verizon won't allow it on their network.

Anyone knows a place where I can unlock a verizon 7250 to work on Sprint? I have a Sprint account!

Thanks!
