When the maximum password attempts rule is set to ten, does the number of incorrect passwords accumulate everytime you enter a worng password? For example, a user entered an incorrect password one morning and then entered the correct one. However, when she used the device the afternoon she again entered the incorrect password and it said 2 of 10, which means it kept record of the first incorrect password. Does this contnue until 10 incorrect passwords are accumultated at which point the handheld is wiped? I would think that the rule applys if it is ten consecutive incorrect passwords.

can anyone advice on this?

No. The count resets when you enter a correct password.

So you can get up to 9 incorrect password, then enter the correct password, and you are in.

Then the next time you lock your phone, if you enter an incorrect password, it will show 1/10.

I accidentally locked my phone with a password I didn't remember...Of course it wiped everything.

At least I know if I lose my phone everything will be safe.

I suggest at least weekly backups. I hate to set passwords as it is a PITA to deal with each time I need to use my phone. The ONLY sensitive information is locked up in the vault on my BB. It makes it safe and you do not have to keep using a passwords for daily use!

Unless your company requires you to use the password-lock, via the BES. :(

I usually back-up my phone every other day. It was just a pain in the ass.

Agreed: I wish there were longer settings the 1 hour for the security lock. I would like to be able to pick any time interval up to 24 hours. It would be a nice option.

i dislike the idea of 10 max password attempts...

BECAUSE THEN MY BROTHER ALWAYS CAN GET ACCESS TO MY PHONE AND PRANK CALLS ALL MY FRIENDS!!
:?

I think they should create a new system for password after phone lock.

I'm not also sure what the ""emergancy call"" is..

emergEncy call is for calling emergency services, as the name suggests. In most places this is 911, but it's set by your carrier to whatever it is locally. Most Countries require all phones to be available for emergency calls regardless of activation or ownership, thus the reason it is on the lock screen.
