I'm looking for someone who still has a copy of VzW's 8703eEFSBP_PBr4.1.0_rel539_PL2.2.0.176_A4.1.0.377 .exe OS file.
I got the upgrade bug and now have a handset that just isn't working. Refer to my post "4.2.1.106 post upgrade issues VzW " if you want details.

The smithco download site doesn't have prior versions out there.

Help!!!

Best regards
Scott

Dude I'm bummed too. But I got a handset that just won't make calls most of the time. Freaky problem really.
I'm lucky enough to for the carrier so I'm thinking I'm going to have them send me the 8800. The features it provides are quite nice minus the problems.

Best regards
Scott

Hell it may be a bad device have you tried taking it to a service center?

I know another user here who also wants that version.

That would be me! I never installed it to my PC -- didn't realize I should do that and now it is no longer available on Verizon's website. Anyone here have the install file for it and would be willing to share? I know it's too big to email, but I figured out a way someone could get it to me.

I haven't upgraded to 4.2 yet -- I'd like to have the 4.1 version before I upgrade in case something goes wrong.

I have it, send me your e-mail address, and I'll be glad to e-mail it to you. I also switched back to 4.1. 4.2 was just not my cup-of-tea. Lots of lag, and really did not care for the entire operating system!

Not yet. I'm kind of chicken after seeing what others have been through. But I will -- soon. 8-)

OK all here’s the scoop. I had to uninstall the 4.2 and 4.1 off my PC then reinstall the 4.1 in order for the DM to allow me to revert back to 4.1.
Post installation; all is well again. The handset functions as it did before. I am going to reapply the 4.2 just to see if I can duplicate the problems.
The problems again are:
1. After the handset sits then times out the screen and keyboard locks; outbound calls and SMS do not connect. When an outbound call is attempted the message is "connecting".....it will stay this way indefinitely. SMS will have the clock icon and never deliver UNTIL and inbound call is received. Following an inbound call the handset is able to make outbound call and send SMS without problems until the screen and keyboard lock again.

2. Either the new OS reports signal strength more accurately than the 4.1 version or the new 4.2 version fails to maintain stronger signal strength. Don’t know but signal strength is consistent and stronger on 4.1

3. I wasn’t ever able to get BES to reactivate on the 4.2 OS. Now that I am back on 4.1 I am reconnected (without having to reactivate).

4. BIS and PIN worked fine along with internet the entire time when the outbound calls and SMS wouldn’t work.

HELP!

I just screwed up and upgraded to 4.2.

I need 8703eEFSBP_PBr4.1.0_rel539_PL2.2.0.176_A4.1.0.377.exe

If someone would like to help. You could post the file here:

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/index.php)

I've used that file host a few times. Or email it if it's not too big.

Thanks for any help.

kirkpuppy>>> Do a quick search, I have personally uploaded the file too, two different sites for others to use.

Its a huge file so it cannot be attached to an e-mail. Please read some of the posts and check this thread and you will see others that might provide you a link to their server so you can log onto it and download it.

Good Luck,

Matt

I just cant figure out for the life of me why this software works great on some devices and not on others.

Some experience the sluggishness and others dont. I wonder if its the apps that are loaded or the amount of data the person keeps on their BB. Its very strange I have mine loaded up with ringtones and themes but not alot of extra apps and mine isnt slow at all.

Yeah, I don't really have any sluggishness either, except PocketDay opens a little slower. Don't notice it otherwise. I had to reconfigure some settings after the upgrade, but no problems really. I have a bunch of ringtones, some pictures for wallpaper, no extra themes, and a few apps with plenty of free space. I delete most emails and text messages pretty quickly, but I do keep call logs for as long as I can.

Since the link above was deleted as not from the manufacture, here is the link to obtain the last 4.1 OS directly from Vz. Still worked as of last night.

http://download.vzwshop.com/vzw/blackberry/8703eEFSBP_PBr4.1.0_rel539_PL2.2.0.176_A4.1.0.377.exe

This is for 8703eEFSBP_PBr4.1.0_rel539_PL2.2.0.176_A4.1.0.377.exe. I went back to it last night and all sluggishness of the 4.2 code was gone. Dunno why the 4.2 is so slow on my BB, but I prefer not to move the track wheel then count to 2 or 3 before I see the selector move on the screen. I just should not be faster than the little computer...LOL ;0)

Enjoy!

Hey guys, I'm also in desperate need of version 4.1 vzw for my 8703e. The non verizon versions aren't working out for me. I would be very grateful for a copy of it.
