8800 / 8820 Trackball customization?

I am well aware that it is impossible to change the color of the trackball on my 8820, as there is only a white LED. I would like to know, however, if there is a way to either alter the brightness of it, or have it not light up via some small application or other hack I haven't been able to find. Using my BB in a dark room with my thumb passing back and forth over the blaring white trackball is kind of annoying.

wait a few weeks until your trackball gets dirty like this and you will be fine.

LOL so would I! My 8830 isnt getting so dirty like that one anyway. I wonder if he is an auto mechanic? (greasy fingers!)

Had mine a few months and is clean as a whistle, of course I clean my BB regularly with Alcohol.

So seriously though, nobody knows of any way to control the lighting of an 8800 series trackball?
