I can't remember the last time I was able to use the "OP" speakerphone shortcut key on my 7100t, but it sure doesn't work now. I've got OS4.1 but it worked when I got the device when it had OS4.0.

Can anyone else with a 7100 and OS 4.1 verify whether the speakerphone shortcut key still works during a call? At this point I'm tempting to think that the speakerphone shortcut for our 7100's got squashed during an OS upgrade and no one at RIM noticed.

I know it's a minor thing, but it's been annoying me for a while now! :)

And you tried a battery pull? I haven't used a 7100 in quite a while but I used them alot in the past with all the OS's and never noticed the speakerphone shortcut gone.

Yes, I've done a battery pull. As I said, the shortcut has been gone for a while, and it's not just a glitch on my device (everything else works fine, and the "OP[.]" key is fine and works as expected in every other situation). I wish I could definitely say that it quit working with such-and-such OS upgrade, but I can't.

I'm still looking for someone with a 7100 and OS 4.1 who can test whether the speakerphone shortcut key still works for them or not. Anyone?

Thanks for verifying that it works, but have you checked it while a bluetooth headset is connected? I should have mentioned this before, but the speakerphone shortcut works for me only when I don't have a bluetooth headset connected. If the headset is connected (and mine is *always* connected, since my mic has been out for over a year), the only way to activate the speakerphone is via the menu.

Ah...yeah, you didn't mention bluetooth. No, on the 7100 with 4.1 you can't use the shortcut for speakerphone while on a BT headset. You have to use the menu. I did try it on my 8320 and it does appear that it works on newer BB's. The 7100t is obsolete and won't be getting any more OS updates. Might be time to think about a new device.

PS...just tried it on my 8100 Pearl with 4.3.1 OS and it works fine.

Yeah, what I thought. They messed up on the 4.1 update for the 7100t, and have now moved on to greener pastures. Oh well, it is kinda getting a little long in the tooth...

I have stumbled on the same thing with OS 4.1.0.268. It was very convenient when connected via bluetooth to pick up the phone versus the bluetooth device to conveniently temporarily switch to the phone without unpairing the bluetooth. It would be nice to know which OS upgrades offered this feature. Almost willing to go back down to get the feature back.
