I'm a Cingular 7280 user.. I have full GRPS strength, but am not able to send or receive messages. (am in the Washington, DC area).

Anyone else experiencing problems sending/receving messages?

*edit* I have done a soft reboot - nothing working yet.

Looks like that might be the case. Almost all of my users (various carriers) have pending emails on the BES. I'm in Baltimore, MD.

Yes RIM is having problems. I have T-Support and just called them, they had no ETA on a fix.

I just got off the phone with nextel and they said there is a problem with the network so that must be the problem. I have a Blackberry 7520.

RIM is having an outage over North America again. It is a RIM issue not carrier issue. Went down about 1:30EST.

Down in Missouri also. New user to the BES.....Is this a common occurrence?

This is not a common occurance at all. I'm not sure why we are having two of these in less than a week.

Hey, by the way people, you don't have to tell us you are down in each city/state. This is North American outage, most people all over the country will be down and when it comes back up, mail will trickle in because all the mail you aren't getting is gettin queued and the longer it is down, the longer it will take to clear all the queued mail. With over 3,000,000 BBs out there, that can take a while.

I've only had my BB for about a week or so now. I really love it and don't know how I got along without it. Is this network problem something that happes alot or is this a freak occurance? Thanks

There have been 3 major outages, up till today, from RIM in the last 5 years. Not a common occurance at all. Any other outages I have seen are carrier specific but still pretty rare.

At about 1.15pm EST our test BES server went down. Around that time our Rogers GPRS handhelds started losing GPRS. Service was restored at 2.11pm. My colleague is on with Rogers right now discussing the matter.

Messages are now trickling in now. Will be a while before we are at full power once that backlog of messages are cleared out.

Down here as well, on T-Mobile.

But I'm only indicating GSM service, no GPRS. I have a Blackberry only plan though, perhaps that has something to do with it?

on tmobile the indicator works liek this
GSM = gsm service
gprs = data service active but no link to bes or bwc
GPRS = data service and connected to bes or bwc server
