Can I keep AT&T MEdia Net Browser/Opera in Hide mode?

Is the AT&T MEdia Net or Opera Mini Browser sending or receving data when I Hide either of them and go back to that page later?

Can I keep either of them in Hide mode for acouple of hours so I can keep my yahoo email Inbox open to read my new email while I'm on the Go?

I ask these questions because I only have the MEdia Net 19.99 plan, and stoped my email notifacations because I was geting a second text with 2/2 notifications after evey text notification. So I've been leaving MEdia Net or Opera on Hide mode when I've been away from my computer alot latley and wondering about these questions.
