I currently have the 8703e with Sprint and was looking into upgrading to 8830. I use the GPS Navigation that Sprint offers, AIM, and Yahoo Messenger. Someone from Sprint told me the Navigation and Yahoo is not supported on 8830. Is this true?

Any issues / likes about 8830?

Thank you

I think you'll be happy with the upgrade. I have an 8830 thru work and I really like it.

Not sure about Yahoo, but Navigation is definately supported (it comes with their BIS plan after all).

The device is a little slippery, so you may want to get a skin for it so you can grip it better and not risk dropping it.

Had mine for 4 hours and I can tell you it is slippery.....
Luckily I caught it in air...my hands are just used to the mammoth 7520

The 8830 is a great device. The only issues you may encounter at first is the trackwheel is no longer on the side, it is a trackball in the middle, and the keys are very close toghter. Having said that, within a day or two you will be used to it!

Wirelessly posted (7250: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

I upgraded from the 7250, and I'm very happy with the 8830.

Love my 8830. Recently got a black shell for it. The keyboard is silver and the light is kind of a weird blue-green. Now with the black shell, the light is yellowish on black. Much easier to see and type with. The only thing I don't like about it is the ringtone volume. Hopefully that will be fixed in a future software upgrade.

it is slippery, but they do offer a rubberized cover, however you will not be able to use the holster easily with it.. but i love my 8830. do it.

I got a Sprint 8830 in October and YIM works just perfectly on it. Look through the forums and you'll see that there are some threads discussing YIM and its installation. I have it on mine and use it daily without any issues.

I upgraded from an 8703 to an 8830. The 8830 is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I have no problem with yahoo im on it. I don't use Sprints Nav stuff so I can't comment on that, but I do use google maps and gps works fine, although it does seem to get stuck fairly often in updating your location which is a nuisance.

I upgraded from a Treo 700p to BB 8830! My issue also with 8830 is the ringtone volume. :-(
