How can you tell if a 8700c has water damage? Does the square sticker under the back cover turn red or does the sticker on the bottom of the battery change? Thank you for any information.

Yes, the sticker on the chassis, NOT on the battery, will turn red or pink

Good luck with it!

The only thing that is not working is that a few keys are typing the wrong letter or multiple letters, ie...the space bar types "nm". Is this problem fixable? That is the only thing wrong with it at this time.

When did your BB take the dive? Did you dry it out afterwards or start attempting to use it again?

If you are using it currently, obviously you have not read the FAQ link that was provided. REMOVE the battery and dry it out.

It fell out of my pocket and was barely wet for 1 second. I checked it out and it seemed to be working just fine. About an hour later I noticed the keys were acting up and then took off the back, etc... I now have it in a sealed container of rice on top of a cable box, like the website suggested. What do you think???

Also, how do I backup all of the numbers in my phonebook, in case I have to get a new phone? Thanks again for all of y'alls help.

Backup with Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore.
Download it here:
BlackBerry Desktop Manager Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ (http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Desktop_Manager_Downloads)

For what you need, get Version 4.2, SP2, the smaller download withOUT the Media Manager.

Good luck.

Thank you, I will download Version 4.2 when I finish letting my Blackberry dry out. Have you ever heard of keys typing incorrect characters and then somehow work correctly again? I am so afraid my phone is ruined.

Yes, if it is only slightly damaged, it can be fine. Yes, that is possible.
LEAVE it a few days.

You have the battery out, of course, hopefully.

Good advice here. Give that thing a week or so and I'll bet it'll be fine. The keypad gets water stuck in it and it takes quite a while to dry it out completely.
