wrong imei

So today i took my blackberry 8820 to a shop that exchanges and buys mobile phones, i just bought a blackberry 8310 last week, when they checked the 8820's imei, they told me the imei was registered to a blackberry 8800 and not a 8820, so they would not buy the phone from me, now i know the imei has not been tampered with because it is a contract straight from orange.

Anyone have an idea why it shows as an 8800?

Sounds like BS. The only reason I can think of is that it was registered before the 8800 became the 8820 (originally there was only one model, and it was the WiFi model).
I'd say show them it has WiFi, which means it CAN'T be an 8800 and if that fails get in touch with RIM

you could ask to speak to someone at the company who isnt stupid also!
