I have a user in our environment that is currently experiencing random phone calls being made from his 8830. He claims that the Bluetooth feature is turned off, and that the phone is just sitting on the desk and it would make a phone call to someone in his address book. Has anyone experienced this problem before and will a handheld wipe reset the phone application as a troubleshooting step?

Opus, I would ask a few questions, such as
-does it call the same person over again (such as a speed dial key)?
-is it in a holster at the time of calling?
-how long do the calls last?
-does it ONLY happen while on that certain desk?

That user needs to give you a bit more information, or let you borrow the device a day and let you see it happen. My bet is that it is in his/her pocket and speed dials a contact, or placed in the holster incorrectly and does the same, either a speed dial or the last number dialed.

Thanks for the quick response.

-does it call the same person over again (such as a speed dial key)?

No, end user claims that it dials different people and not all of them are on the speed dial key

-is it in a holster at the time of calling?

No

-how long do the calls last?

He's not sure. Since the phone was unattended during those times

-does it ONLY happen while on that certain desk?

No

So after typing all this, end user said that remove/replace battery seems to have stopped it from happening. Hopefully the problem does not return.
