I've been hearing a lot of talk about a spell check feature on some new bb OS is that available for the 8700 and how can I get it?

Yes, the new spell check features are available only on OS4.2.2. Do an upate via your provider's site.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
I don't believe the 4.2.2 OS is available for the 8700. The OP will need to install a third-party spell checker such and LexSpell or InstaSpell.

Rumor has it that there will be a version of 4.3 for the 8700 - they did skip 4.2.2 on the 8700 though.
Might wait it out until then, otherwise there are a few really decent - free options for spellcheck.
Check the 3rd Party Applications thread, or do a search for free spellcheck.

In the meantime, I would recommed LexSpell. I use it and it's a lifesaver!

Lex spell would be my recommendation. But I have not been able to get it to work lately. Its says mines out of date to download a new one from their site, the problem is the one listed is the same as the one I have loaded.

Dawg: In return for all the outstanding advice you have given us, here is the answer to the LexSpell problem (Version Out of Date". I got this straight from the good folks at Beiks, makers of LexSpell.
1: Unload LexSpell from your BB
2: Pull the battery to reboot
3: After reboot, go to Options:Date/Time, and reset the cloak to any date that is more than a year ago.
4: Using the Desktop Manager; reinstall LexSpell
5: Use Lexspell to check a deliberately misspelled word (important step)
6: Reset Time to current.
7: Pull battery to reboot

No issue, just expired distributive.
LexSpell 2.1 is now at the BEIKS website, taking care of the expiration and adding a much demanded feature to registered users.
I just went to beiks and It still trying to download 2.0 OTA might want to check those links again I had to install via desktop

Nope, must be either your cache or the carrier's cache...it's definitely 2.1, we tried it before posting here.
I tried it on two seperate BBs and was 2.0 on both one had never been to that site.
edit: servers must have updated I just checked both again and saw 2.1 thanks for the help
