Tried searching on "verizon os 8830" and only got 1 result, not relevant, so:

1. What is the latest os for the 8830 for Verizon?

2. Is it normal to have to reactivate the bb via enterprise activation every time I update the os? When I updated to 4.2.2.176 in November, I had to call my IT dept to have them pull my profile so I could reactivate on the BES.

3. Is it ok to use an os from another carrier on my Verizon phone? I always see threads about latest os versions, but they are seemingly always for some European carrier, never Verizon.

Thanks!

If I go to verizon's download site, the latest version says it's from 11/16, which was the 4.2.2.176 version. Where would I go for the 4.2.2.339 os and if it's from another carrier, can I use it on my Verizon phone?

Also, will I have to complete Enterprise Activation again after loading the new os? Thanks!

they are all the same they all come from RIM. the link is at the top part of the page. read it for the 8830.

not much different from the version you are already running tho. the next big version update is due sometime soon supposedly from RIM. I guarantee when it comes out you will hear about it here!

Absolutely, use another carrier's OS; just follow the instructions in the post at the top of this Topic.

Yes

So, there's no enhancements for me by upgrading my 4.2.2.176 to the .339, since it seems they are the same release, just a different numbering scheme for different carriers, correct?

It's the same release. The version numbers are describing two different things about the same OS.
.339 is the package version.
.176 is the applications version.

It's just two ways of referring to the same piece of software.
If your device is reporting 4.2.2.176... then you already have the latest software on it.

Ok, I should have read the Attention threads more closely - I see now where is says Package Version, then under that says Application Version.

Thanks for your help!
