Periodic backlight issues when call comes in

One of our employees has described the problem as follows:

What appears to be randomly - sometimes calls come in but the backlight does not come on. I believe bluetooth headset is on at that time. Acc to employee there is no way to get the backlight to come on you just have to take the call.

Anyone experience this? Is there some setting that controls this? I took a look at the BB, couldn't reproduce or find anything.

Do you know what software version the user is on? I haven't seen/heard this issue but it might be worth an OS upgrade?

I saw a post where someone asked about this yesterday. I've not ever seen this happen. What device and OS?
