View Full Version : Macros?

Does anyone make a macro environment which will work on Blackberry 88xx?

I have an 8800. One of my pet peeves is that it's a PITA to switch bluetooth coverage on and off. My Plantronics 665 bluetooth takes a long time to power on and off, so I'd like a quick way just to turn bt support on/off on the 8800. I was wondering if someone sold a macro environment which would let you write what amounts to a batch file to do something as mundane as turning bt coverage on/off. If I could do that, I'd just map it to the convenience button on the side of the 8800.

takes a max of 3 seconds to switch the bluetooth off. You could map the convenience key to Manage connections, flick the trackball down one, and then turn off bluetooth, or turn bluetooth on.

Whether 3.0 seconds, 0.3 seconds or 30 seconds, what's the answer to the original question? Does anyone make a macro environment for blackberry which would enable a user to create the equivalent of batch files to do mundane tasks? You're a Blackberry Extraordinaire, so surely you know.

i dont see why there wouldnt be a program that does what you want. It exists within the device so all you basically need is an application you can link to the convenience key. I dont know if any have been developed, and I personally have not seen anyone mention this before. You could request someone to make such an app in the aftermarket software section, but other than that, the only work around i know is what i suggested.

Edit: Just tested the manage connections shortcut, takes less than 1 second. Not sure how fast you want this to be, but a program cant be *that* much faster.
