I've had my 8310 for just over 4 days and have had an issue with it since the beginning. I'm not a new BB user as I've had one model or another since '02, so I understand how they work.

With the auto dim backlight set to "on", the Backlight times out after 30 seconds regardless of what I have it set to. If I set "Automatically Dim Backlight" to off, then the timeout feature works according to how it's set.

The auto dim feature is important to me as is having the backlight timeout set to 2 minutes.

Has anyone experienced this before? If so, is there a fix for it?

Sounds like an OS issue, possibly a bug. What OS are you running? Have you tried the latest 8310 OS file?

I'm on 4.2.2.17. I haven't downloaded anything since I just got it last week.

The latest OS file is 4.2.2.184. You might give that a try to see if it corrects the issue. When I had my Curve (8320) I had no issues with the Backlight, and I started with the 4.2.2.180 OS install.

Thanks. Any idea where I might find the latest version?

There should be a sticky thread at the top of the 8300 forum that has a link to the latest OS file for the 8310.
