Hi guys apple has released a 16gb iphone (and 32gb itouch) does this tempt anyone to move to the darkside?

not at all. A) i have way too much invested in blackberry personally, (11 email accounts pushed to my devices) to ever consider moving away from blackberry. ive also seen too many broken iphones, and horrible typing on the device to worry about it. 16gb iphone is the same as the rest, a limited prosumer device that it flashy and shiny, nothing more, nothing less

I think the pod is improving and fast (faster than RIM). If it gets its email functionality sorted BB has a real race on its hands.

Weight/size as well...I won't go larger than the Pearl. Have you held an iPhone? Felt like a brick in hand to me...

well to me, size isnt that much of an issue, on a day to day basis i carry pearl to 88xx size devices. i just cant stand not being able to type 30-45 wpm on a device. i havent seen any iphone users do half that.

I'll get it when I don't need email anymore.

I'd rather have a 16GB MicroSDHC card for my BlackBerry instead.

Bango. A guy I work with has one and I can type two times as fast as he ever thought about on his iphone. Not to mention hes always *****ing about his email. No thanks.

Sith, where did you hear about a 32 or 64 microSDHC by year end??

before CES a little birdie from Sandisk told me that 12/16gb by mid year, 32 and possibly 64 by CES. the 12 and 16 must be in final testing to be announced at CES, so I am assuming that the 32 and hopefully the 64 will stay on track as well

Gotcha.. Hopefully future BB will be able to handle a 32 or 64GB Micro...

Although I did like my pearl, I love my curve better. So maybe down the line this will be available for full qwerty BB's. Until then, I will use a standalone MP3 player/ipod. Interesting info. though, the future looks bright for those of us who love our BB

Every verizon Rep. I ask says the pearl only supports up to 4GB......and Im not even shure if that hcsd......can teh 8130 handle hcsd, and as it expands how much will it be able to handel?

Well guys I sound like a Steve Jobs wanabe (by the way my ipod is 3 year old and its the only apple product I have) but I gather the only reason youre discussing upgades in mircoHCSD capacity would be to store media, music and films primarily. Lets face it it would take more than an upgrade in SD card to let a BB touch (excuse the pun) the iPhone in that department. Just because you can get thousands of songs there doesnt suddenly make it a good media player. EMMMM and then there the browser the BB is terrible.

Dont get me wrong I do love my Berry email especially and thats why we are all here on this forum I'd imagine but apple will no doubt.......

get better on the email front
have more capacity
switch its touch keyboard to landscape mode for improved (not BB standard) typing
get 3g quicker
and build in GPS (i know the berry won that race) but as standard

IMHO they are in 2 different marketplaces, not really comparable.

Ive used a number of push email devices, and have still come back to blackberry. Course working in support for them helps, but I still believe its the best device.

Unless RIM get blackberry connect on it, I'll stick with an ipod.

hell why would I want to charge my phone every day, i'll stick to having 16 days more battery life from my Curve thanks!

16 days I only get 6 at most on my curve

I agree with your comments though thats why when I leave work I'll pick up the iphone (if it ever arrives here) for my downtime

The quoted time is 17 days standby!

I get just over a week calling and texting. Prob with the iphone though, if you use it for MP3 it only had 8hrs time!

Not entirely true, or there wouldn't be so many people torn (as I am) between the Curve and the iPhone.

I currently have an 8 GB iPhone and an 8830 with Verizon that I know I should really let go, but I haven't because I depend on email a lot for work. The iPhone would completely meet my needs if I could change the "reply to" and "sent from" fields. On BIS I have a yahoo account that work email is forwarded to, but I can make it look as if the email was sent from my work account instead of the Yahoo account. Right now there is no way to do this. I'm very tempted to trade my iPhone for a new Curve and ditch VZW altogether (except for my aircard...at&t doesn't have enough 3G coverage for me to get one of their aircards).

Sigh...I want it all.

A week for calling and texting? Thats crazy. I have lost 10-20% of my battery level by 10 a.m. most days. By noon im probably down around 65%. How many phone calls and texts do you send? One?

get better on the email front - definately, but they dont have the reliability of the BB
have more capacity - really really doubt this. BB is only dependant on the card limit, Apple, being built in, to upgrade memory is to replace the device
switch its touch keyboard to landscape mode for improved (not BB standard) typing - improved yes, but since they have statistically the worst typing of any PDA, it can only get better
get 3g quicker - check jibi on this, his posts on 3g BB in the states. And besides Blackberrys already HAVE 3g.
and build in GPS (i know the berry won that race) but as standard -Not sure what you mean by this but 8310, 8130, 8830, 7130, 8703, 8110 ALL have gps standard...?

Watch your non-user replaceable battery life drain very quickly, while BB users just pop a new one in and go. Also, rated time, there isnt a PDA device out that beats the 8800. 29 days rated standby time.

This actually works! After setting up the Yahoo! accounts that my work and personal email are forwarded to, I then changed the yahoo email address to my REAL work and personal email address and guess what--the iPhone will send email from the yahoo account but the from address is my work/personal account, and it will get my personal and work email real-time via the Yahoo! push technology.

Wow! Glad I figured this out!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I'd get an iPod touch, because of the music player and the wifi, but I don't want or need a phone that plays music.
