Blackberry Curve Media Player on 8800

Does anyone know if RIM plans on releasing an update to the current media player on the 8800. The curve's media is superior to anything you can buy on the market and I was hoping RIM would release it in a new OS.

I believe the 4.5 OS, due out any time now, will include a new and improved media player. Of course this is subject to change, but that was the impression I got.
