Hello. I am in the process of purchasing a BB 7290 through T-mobile for 349.00! I have noticed other cheaper offers for the 7290 through suthorized T-mobile dealers all over the net. For example, eAccess.com offers the 7290 for 299.00 with new activation and cellular experts on ebay offers the 7290 for 275.00 with new activation (plus throws in free shipping). both companies say the 7290 is brand new, never used, etc...ebay seller has very high ratings...

Can anyone comment on the above mentioned discount sellers or perhaps suggest a lower cost alternative to purchasing directly from T-Mobile? I'll pay the 349 but would certainly like to pay less!!!! But I also do not want to be ripped off...

Thanks!

you can get better deals through re-sellers than through T-Mobile. One thing to be careful of is that T-Mobile will not do any kind of support if you dont buy the phone through an authorized dealer- I learned this one the hard way. I have gone through 4 7230s and just got my 7290 from TMobile directly, sending it back on Monday b/c it has software problems even RIM cant fix.

When you see those places like eAccess.com or Amazon.com offering lower than the TMobile's $349 price, read ALL the fine prints about subscription requirement. Most will require a voice plan of at least $39.99 + a BB plan. Some asks for 2 years agreement. Some gives you a rebate after 6 months of subscription. Be careful of what you get into.

hmrobert,

I bought mine through a reseller and when I call TMobile for support, I did not have any problem.

Care to share about your problem on the 7290? I have yet to learn of any 7290 problem RIM can't fix unless it is carrier related.

FYI - I just ordered my BB 7290 directly through T-Mobile, but got an employee discount through my company...total for the new device was $99.00! and no activation fee! Much better than $349.00!

What plan did you sign up on? Most of the time, discount on equipment is based on the voice plan you signup for.
