Hi,

I just purchased a 8830.. Rather excited I am to get it.

I've been searching the threads for an answer to this and depending on the dates, I am getting different replies.

My question is this: I have a Google Hosted domain (Google Apps). How quickly will my BB be notified when new mail arrives to this account? Is it true push, or does it poll via POP?

What is the difference between the Google Blackberry application and regular BIS in regards to using a Google Apps account ?

Thanks

I believe the emails will arrive as quickly as if on a gmail address and, if setup using BIS will be push.

The GMail app is like Outlook for the BB/GMail. You have to open the app and check for new mail. With the mail account setup in BIS the mail will push to the BB automatically.

One other quick question if you don't mind.

Since the Google mobile application for gmail is like a fat client for email (but on a diet) does it also interact with my BB's inbox ? Or is it simply a completely separate email client ?

I ask, because I have been reading that there is still no two way sync between a google hosted domain and a BB.

If I have read correctly, when altering mail on your BB, it is reflected at your google mail account. But the reverse is not true. Which is to say, if I read my mail, delete it, archive it via my PC's browser, google does not notify my BB.

This links in with my first question. Using the google mail application on the BB, would it then sync the changes I had made while viewing my mail through my PC's browser ?

Phew. I need a nap.

The Gmail app is a separate application which downloads your gmail only. It does not interface with the email application on the BB.

As for Google hosted domains, I believe they'll interface with BIS just fine. Just use the setup internet email icon on your device and add them in.
