Is anyone wondering when/if Nextel is going to keep up with the industry with a new BB model? I am using a 7520 but would like to get a new one. My friend just changed to the 7100i. His review, "it is piece of s^#t." I want to have Nextel DC but I am about to jump ship and go with another company just to get a better model. Any opinions?

Thanks, I have seen the past discussions but since Sprint and Nextel merger, I sorta thunk that to keep a foothold in the market, they would spend some of their money. I guess I don't understand competetion.

They bought the bandwidth and the customer list.
No desire to keep iDen going.

They're fading it out and at some point they'll kill it completely. Probably force the remaining users to switch to Sprint much like the analog users with AT&T just got shut down.

I'm a fellow user with nextel of the 7100i. I loved the direct connect feature, the main reason why I became a nextel user about 6 years ago. My first blackberry was the 7100i but after about 1.5 years, I wanted more blackberry. The 7100i just wasn't enough anymore. So I decided to jump the direct connect ship and gave it up. I moved to sprint where they have several blackberry models available and went with the 8130 pearl. Don't miss direct connect at all!!

with Sprint losing Nextel customers faster than their own CDMA customers you would think they would stop sinking money into this dying tech. They have spent something like $1B vacating the Nextel bands in *some* of the areas that the Government told them to, and still arent done yet. Dont know about you, but i can think of a lot better things to spend $1B on (like their CDMA network, or perhaps getting decent customer service reps)

well they have a long way to go before they drop into 4th place in the carrier list. They still have a large number of customers. They are however, the only carrier to have a net loss of customers for the year of 2007.

honestly i think VZW will purchase them before they die completely. The 30 million customers will put them squarely into the largest carrier spot again.

God, let's hope not. I have more issues dealing with Verizon on a corporate level than any other carrier.

Only because VZW doesnt care  Customers leaving, complaining, usually has no result on their customer service reps over the phone. occassionally you get some good people (Demon here on the boards is one) but other than that its a crap shoot.

Must be a corporate thing. I have never not once talked to a rep (other than stupid store reps)that I didnt get decent help from. Even if they didnt know the answer to the question they were friendly and courteous.

I cant say the same thing about any other CSR reps I deal with in the day to day activity of my business.

Sprint is going to take over the dc part of nextel. And nextel will be swallowed with this transaction.
