The app is free--the usage is part of your data plan.

I use jivetalk. Not free but costs only a little and is able to run multiple chats (msn, yahoo, ecc...) ando also uses BIS for the connection. for me this means bypass carrier costs (TIM - Italy) since that traffic is included in my plan.

It works great!

I to would recomend JiveTalk, they have a 30 day trial and its really worth a try.

30$ for a transferable lisence.
20$ for a single phone non transferable lisence.

Try WebMessenger and its a free software. Its better than Ramble if you are using AOL's AIM. Of course paid JiveTalk is superior!

WebMessenger download:
WebMessenger Inc. (http://www.webmessenger.com/)

I am surprised that Webmessenger is free. It use to be approx $50/ year! It was one of the first IM's for the BB. It is solid but not maybe as many bells and whistles as some other programs.

I don't know of any IM apps left that use SMS except Oz.
