Where can I find detailed information on how to configure MDS for internet browsing? I can’t seem to get it to work. I can browse our intranet but nothing outside. The only way to browse is by setting the IT policy “Allow Other Browser Services”.

If it can browse your Intranet but not the Internet then it's working, but something is stopping it getting to the outside world - your proxy or firewall I guess.

Depending on what is between your BES and the outside world you could tell the BES to use your existing proxy server (see "Configuring a BlackBerry component to use a proxy server" in the Administration Guide) or if appropriate just allow it outbound access on relevant ports (which would include 80 and 443).

If we knew what proxy / firewall you had someone might be able to give more specific advice?

We are not using a proxy for internet. The BES server has internet access directly from the router. Port 80 is open on the router for another application on that same server. In BlackBerry MDS Connection Service port 8080 is listed as Web Server Listen Port and 443 for Web Server SSL Listen Port. I tried opening port 8080 but still no luck. Is there a policy i need to set?

What happens when they try to browse externally using the BB Browser? Can you browse externally from the BES?

This typically is a firewall/proxy issue but the error on the handheld or in the BES logs might tell you why it's failing.

I can browse external sites on the BES. When I try to browse on a handheld I get this error.

HTTP Error 400: Bad Request

The server could not understand the page request, or was unable to process it for some reason. Please try loading a different page.

And under Details it says

Invalid response code[-1]

I'm not sure what to look for in the Logs. The following might not be related.

I usually try browsing to google.com on a handheld as a test. I tried a different website this time slashdot.org and it went through. So I tried browsing to sites with .org. So far I can see mozilla.org and apache.org but not all .org sites work... What could cause some sites to work fine and others not at all. I havent specified any list of allowed or disallowed sites.
