Hello, I use the BB leather magnetic case my 8830 came with. I have it set so that it locks when in the case but I can 't figure out how or if it is possible for it to automatically un-lock itself upon removal from the case.

This would be a great help to me in aswering calls quicker and not having to fumble around with pressing the "*" and the green "phone" button.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! (y)

Set it so that it doesn't lock when you holster it. It will automatically go into Standby when you holster it, so no buttons can accidentally get pressed.

Thanks a lot Corey! I didn't know that the phone would go into "standby" mode upon holstering and keep keys from being activated. I always thought you had to have it "lock upon holstering".

That makes life a little easier for me!....lol

Just out of curiosity, what makes the phone go into standby when you holster it?

Wirelessly posted

I'm pretty sure the magnetic portion of the holster reacts to the phone sending the signal to put it into standby mode or which ever way your phone is configured.

Just out of curiosity, what makes the phone go into standby when you holster it?

As the user242 said, there is a proximity switch in the blackberry that is activated by a magnet in the holster (provided it is a blackberry hoster that has the magnet).

Are you sure it goes into "standby".

I know it goes into In Holster mode, but are you sure they are the same?

i have a question of sorts about locking. It seems that if my phone is inactive for a couple of minutes it locks itself. Any ideas on how to stop it from doing that?
thanks
