$550 for a brand new in the box 8820, unlocked?

Sounds like an appropriate retail price. You'll generally pay a little more for it being already unlocked.

You might be able to find one lightly used or still even new on ebay cheaper, I haven't gone out to price them myself.

Hmmm ok thanks. I have an 8310 through Rogers right now but can`t stand the small keys.

yeah, sounds pretty average for a new inbox unlocked 8820.

its usually a combination of retail price + unlock fee

Have you used an 88xx style keyboard before?

^^should be given high consideration. I feel the 83xx keyboard is better.

Oh...thanks for this info. I have played around with the display model in stores. I find the keys are a bit bigger and shaped differently. I constantly dial the wrong number now. Is the 88** series a bad choice?

I like the 88xx somewhat more, but it is very close. OP should definitely try it out first.

I think that price is about what you would pay at an ATT for full retail

Paid about that much for my new 8830, from Sprint. I like it. My thought is, if it is worth it to you, then it is worth it.

Absolutely not! My personal opinion is that I think my 8800 was a more solidly built device than my 8310, but I like the keyboard on the 8310 better.

Is the keyboard better. I have the 8830 and did not want to go to the curve for that reason.

dude have you not heard of or seen craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums (http://www.craigslist.org) ?? paying retail is not so smart. I mean you can find a brand new phone on craigslist for much cheaper and if you have paypal verified you can buy from ebay from sellers that have good reputation and paypal insurance.

Good luck.

Craigslist is awsome if you live in or around a big city, even then, the item(s) you're looking for might not be available for around your price range. I bought my 8310 from craigslist and found out later that it had an IT policy...im actually thankful that it wasn't stolen. There are a couple of ebay horror stories in which our members here got robbed (from paypal verified sellers). Plus, the one year limited warrenty is always good to have when you buy direct or from a retailer.
