I know I seem to be pointing out all of the apps that don't work but in an effort to let everyone know and also hoping a mod or others have figured out a solution to these problems I thought I would post this.

The upgrade to 4.5 seems to have changed the management of Themes and where settings are saved including the ribbon settings (i.e. order of icons, folders, hidden icons, etc.) I found this out the hard way as I loaded the Today Plus theme (very nice by the way) set up all my icons and then had to reboot for other reasons and none of my settings were saved. The L theme did not have this problem so I did some troubleshooting and here is what I found.

1. 4.2.1 and below use the "Ribbon Bar Position" to store the settings for the themes.

2. 4.5 does not have the "Ribbon Bar Position" in the Backup and Recover options, instead 4.5 seems to have a item listed as "Theme Settings" which I am assuming is where the the ribbon bar positions and other theme data is stored.

As a result, old themes do not save the settings upon changing themes or even reboots. If anyone has any other information please share. Otherwise, others should be aware of this as they may lose their favorite theme until a new one is created based on the new OS parameters.

It's a bug that has been around for the last few versions. Third-party themes work fine, though.

Just one more bullet on the list of reasons why beta software is not released or meant to be available.

Thanks for this, I hadn't noticed the problem with other versions. To those that read this, I am not complaining as I know running Betas can be buggy but I could not tell if this was a fundamental change in the way 4.5 was handling themes or something else. Thanks for clarifying it is something else.

Jibi or others,

Has anyone seen a beta of 4.5 that has this bug fixed? Just curious if it is on the radar for RIM fix as a priority or if it so far down on the totem pole that it might not get fixed for a while or even before final release?

Thanks in advance.

Has not been fixed yet. I just noticed this issue when I put the older non-grid style T-Mobile Zen theme on 4.5.
