7290 Battery Reading problem = no radio

hey guys, i just got my blackberry 7290 about 2 weeks ago and out of nowhere the phone doesnt wanna tell me my battery life and since it is doing that, i cant turn on my radio or send sms messages.the home screen shows a red battery with a question mark beside it. does anyone know wut the problem could be?
