Hello-

Since T-Mo won't let us attach images to emails, I made a little script to simplify transferring them via the web.

Make sure you read the SECURITY WARNING at that link.

Everything is explained there.

I hope someone finds this useful - I know I did.

Looks good to me - you might also want to put a disclaimer regarding offensive materials such as child pronography etc, especially if this is your box.

Thanks for the page

What size do we resize the image to to fit a sa wallpaper?

Bratag, thanks. I added "all pornography" to the disclaimer.

canesfins, the width is around 243 px, but if the image is taller than that, the BB will center it on the background.

When I upload the image and then go to the link on the 7100 it says the page is too big for the device. When I try to re size on the site it gives errors and the picture does not show up in the link provided. Is there re size program that you recommend?

If you have BES, you could always turn on IIS in XP and run an intranet that publishes photo web pages... Many tools do this turnkey and can even resize it. Look at Google's Picasa http://www.picasa.com/picasa/

Call me an idiot but how do I resize the picture using pcasa? And what should I size it to for the 7100?

Nice little application. Thanks.

Anyone find any shortcut to adding more than one image. Like saving the
link address and then just changing the file #?. I have tried saving as a bookmark but it only brings the previous image up w/o the ability to insert the next image that I've saved.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Regards,

Lou

This thing is AWESOME!!!

BTW: A good image size is 240 wide x180 high

That fits right into the bottom portion of the screen...

Are you guys using these pictures as your background? Do you not find it distracting/busy with all the icons all over it?

i personally hate the TMO theme, so i've switched to the Default one. the backgrounds on there look better...

The screen is 245 pixels high and 240 pixels wide. The top 65 pixels are covered by the stuff at the top, so the area for your photo is the lower 180 pixels. If your photo is too dark, I find that using a tool like Photoshop to reduce the opacity to 50% makes both the image and the icons clear. If the opacity is too high, they tend to blend together.

We really need a nice repository of cool background images... esp for those of us graphically challenged...I set up a gallery with three images I have (one a grid I used to find out what space was available and two of La Paz). The images are the correct size so if you go with your BB 7100 you should be able to save any image directly to your phone.

I set the gallery so anyone who wants to can upload additional images. We'll see how goes, but for now it is open. Don't post any in approriate images, etc, etc. You know the drill.

I most heartily recommend the reqwireless Email Viewer-Personal 3.5. It is almost flawless. Want to view all your HTML mail the way it was designd to look? This is it. I build websites and my clients can sent me 14mb JPG images as attachments and they load beautifully on my 7100. Most but not all pdf attachments will open.

...and setup with your T-Mobile account is really easy, no other accounts needed. Just follow the Reqwireless instructions and in 2 minutes your have HTML mail with attachments.

EmailViewer supports the following features:

* Images (GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and BMP formats)
* Multiple email accounts
* Email protocols: POP3, IMAP, and SMTP
* Security via SSL (if supported by the device and POP3/IMAP/SMTP server)
* Receive and send from HotmailŪ accounts
* Follow links within email messages
* Attachments including ZIP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Corel WordPerfect and Adobe PDF documents
* Automatic spam filtering
* Viewing of images at full size or scaled to fit the device's screen width
* Optical character recognition for faxes and scanned documents

All this in just 60 KB!

Can't open attachments within your email messages? Can't see the rich HTML content that you're accustomed to viewing with your desktop email client? Overwhelmed by spam? Hey Guys/Gals;

I am having a problem accessing the link on my BB. When I reach out and grab the link, I get the following error message: A failure has occurred during the registration of a secure connection with the WAP gateway. Please contact your service provider. What does this mean? I doubt I need to contact the service provider. Any suggestions here would be a great help.

If the 7100 has the same size screen as the 7130 then 240 x 260 would be fine, thats what i resize it to via Photoshop.

Is it possible to get an image on the top portion of the 7130 screen??
Or can I use one picture to cover both the top and bottom of the screen??

"top portion"? are u using the BB Insight theme? try using the Dimension theme (or any others that you find to experiment) , that way your "instrument panel" won't take up the entire top of the screen and you can still see your picture ok.
