I like the big screen and the keyboard. I wonder how hard it would be to just make a call. Will it have EVDO? It looks like it would be a great device for web surfing.

EVDO isn't available on GPRS, at the moment the specs claim it has GSM/UMTS. I haven't seem any other versions (like EVDO) announced yet.

Yes, I know that. My point is that voice is the best way since you don't get your fingerprints all over the LCD.

Defnitely a matter of personal preference. The only time I've had a phone with voice dialing was a very old LG that I couldn't wait to get rid of. My Handspring, Treo and 7100 did not have the feature and i honestly never missed it. I'm sure I would use it trough my bluetooth headset but without the headset I'd probably just use the speed dial buttons.

I should also poit out a correction in the thread. The HTC Wizard is the phone pictured in my initial post. The Tmobile MDA Pro is the HTC Universal which is larger and has a flip up screen as opposed to the slider

I know this is an old link but I am wondering if the MDA will have the capability to be used as a wireless modem in the same manner as I use my 7100t. I am currently waiting for the 8700 from TMO, but the pocket Office would be nice to have. I welcome any feedback that can be offered about the MDA phone from experience or just general thoughts about the functions of the phone.

The HTC devices are very flexible and have a good following... It does support edge and you could use the DUN support in WM5 over bluetooth or USB.

Sprint offer the HTC 6700 - same device - which supports EVDO.

I used this phone for quite a while, before converting to an 8700. the results are night and day. The K-Jam (as it is also known) crashes often. It has a lot of nice bells and whistles, which at best, are marginally stable. And no doubt, bells and whistles are nice, but, in the end, from a business point of view, they don't really help you to make money. However, if you want a crash proof, no nonsense, information retrieving, messaging communication device, the BB wins hands down.

Also, my BB 8700 pulls in a signal SUBSTANTIALLY better than the K-Jam did.

Plus, for you international travellers (like myself), you can't beat BB all inclusive data. On the K-Jam, retireval of messages, whether you try to limit it or not, still seems to be at least 10-15k per message. That means when roaming internationally, 20c a message to retrieve -- can get expensive.

The MDA/Wizard is NOT the MDA Pro. The MDA pro is an HTC universal. The MDA as known here in the US is known as the MDA Vario in all other T-mobile countries.

I actually had the kjam but never turned it on. As I got a 8700 the same day.

Jeff, As an aside... went to your web page. I am an avid watch collector myself. mostly Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks, Offshores and modern Daytonas. Small world :)

Thanks for the clarification about the different models of the MDA. I am refering to the MDA Vario for use with an exchange server for a small business. Does the same hold true for the Vario model as far as stability in the OS? I could use the functionability of the outlook in my calander as I am out of the office about 75% of the time.

Yes. I realize this too now, as I have had the MDA pro (Universal). I just saw the picture of the K-Jam, and commented based on that. PS - My experience with that, was since the Universal does not support EDGE, UMTS worked beautifully in Europe and Japan, but, the browser was slow in the US, since it was only GPRS.

Archie3, nice to know there are some watch dudes on the forum -- collecitng high end pieces in the US has been increasing by leaps and bounds the last few years.
