Hi:

Will be relocating to the Dubai shortly and I'm looking for some advise on what Blackberry to use in Dubai.

I'd like to use both GPS and Wi-Fi features if possible.

Is it worth the prices for the 8820 as it appears to have both features or to wait for the 9000 series release?

Is there another blackberry model that offer both GPS and Wi-Fi?

All feeback greatly appreciated.

well, if you wait for the 9000 you might be waiting quite some time. since there are no definitive dates on its release. The 8820 is a good, solid phone, it lacks a camera but still does very well. It also has fantastic battery life.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Welcome as well. I would go with the known product. The 9000 in many respects is still a concept until its released to the masses.

8820 all the way!!!

9xxx hasn't even been confirmed to who (carrier) will be recieving the device, if it even gets released in the first place. As stated, the 8820 is solid...i love mine!!!

The 8820 is a fantastic phone. GPS and wi-fi work great, although the wi-fi may not connect to some networks without some tinkering (it works flawlessly on the vast majority of the networks I've tried). Some workplaces do not allow cameraphones, so not having a camera can be an advantage. I especially agree with Sith Apprentice that the 8820 has fantastic battery life.
I don't think that there are any other blackberry models offering both GPS and wi-fi so the 8820 might be your best choice for now, and the foreseeable future (who knows when the 9000 will be released?).
Just my 2c.

Unless "shortly" means in 1-2 years I wouldn't consider the 9xxx as an option.

Hello All:

Thank you for the replies. Just trying to justify the added cost for the wi-fi option.
