Hi. I am unable to sync ny Bb 8800 with my computer. I installed the new version of the desktop manager and tried to configure the synchronization. I get this error message: "The operation terminated unexpectedly." The info bar on the error message popup says "Intellisync". I tried this to remedy the situation, but it odoes not work: BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles/527/KB10340_f.SAL_Public.html)

If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

If you are using DM 4.3, uninstall it and try 4.2.

@<hidden> Kanga does this happen when you just try to sync contacts or just calendars? Try to do each one separately and this may help pinpoint where the problem may be.

bobofat: - It occurred when I tried to sync calendars. I had no other sync configured. Then I unistalled DM and reinstalled. I was able to configure sync, but the same error message appeared when I tried to sync. Now I can't even configure sync to see if the error occurs when syncing other stuff; it just says "terminated unexpectedly".

akosnizky: - I will try your suggestion.

Thanks.

Kanga - you will have to go into Blackberry Desktop Manager and uncheck 'Synchronize organizer data', close out of BB DM and go back into BB DM and you will be able to configure synch.

Thanks, bobofat, I did that. Configured the synch and all seemed well until I tried to synch. As soon as the calendar synch starts, I get the error message: The operation termianted unexpectedly. This is driving me insane. I have done everthing I can think of doing, and it still does not work.

Do you have any calendar items where html tables or other "unusual" (i.e., non-text) items are embedded in the notes for the item? If so, try removing them.

Kanga I feel your pain. In my situation it was a reoccurring appointment that had no end date. You can see how I resolved the issue on another post. Below are also other solutions that users found to resolve syncing with calendar issues.

Reoccurring appoints w/no end date – see my posting bobofat (#5) - http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8100-series-discussion-pearl/124737-8130-outlook-2007-sync-nightmare.html

Delete CICAL – see Doughdaddy’s posting (#9) at http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8100-series-discussion-pearl/106476-blackberry-desktop-outlook-calendar-sync-issues.html

Delete Intellisync folder – see thwilsonjr’s posting (#27) at http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/36729-ms-outlook-synchronization-error.html

OK - so I finally got it figured out. All it took was a call to T-Mobile that went on for almost 40 minutes, before they realized it was an issue for RIM. Another long wait and then we had to disconnect because RIM was not responding (or something) and I had to go home. Then this morning it was only another interminable call and waiting and it went on for almost 2 hours. Of course, the very last thing the RIM tech guy suggested was the one that worked. After uninstalling, reinstaling, editing the registry, deleting RIM folders and files on the C drive, he walked me through changing the profile. Then, using the new profile, I set up the synch and it worked like a charm.

Thank goodness. I was ready to pitch my Bb into the nearest lake or mountain gorge or dumpster.

Thanks, RIM tech guy, for your patience, persistence and overall great assistance.(y)

Kanga, I'm having a similar situation to yours. In my case, I'm trying to synchronize my 8330 with Outlook 2007 (running on a Windows XP platform). I'm trying to synchronize the contacts and the calendar appointments. As the Desktop Manager attempts to carry out the synchronization, I see a counter incrementing as the records are copied to the 8330. However, when the counter reaches 100 (for either contacts or calendar synchronization), I receive an Ïntellisync "unexpected termination error". When I synchronize less than 100 contacts, it works well. Anything above that magic 100 limit, and it dies. Can you provide me more information on setting up the "profile" that the RIM tech support guy walked you through? Is there a way to speak with the same RIM tech support specialist that you spoke with?
