See the instructions at blackberryfaq.com. I'd post the exact link if I had it handy.

Added: Here it is:

I have an 8830 with Verizon and I don't want to sound real stupid here but what benefits would I have if I unlocked my BlackBerry?

Is the 8830 the CDMA/GSM 'World' phone? I'll defer to others on the answer to your question. I don't know.

You would be able to use a sim card from another country, instead of purchasing one from verizon when traveling abroad.

OK, when I bought my 8830 with Verizon on the day it was launched, May, 2007, I purchased for $30.00 the SIM card so I could use it abroad. I have a $79.95 plan with 450 cellular minutes and unlimited email/data in the USA. When I travel to Europe I pay as I go for email/interent use and with quite moderate useage for interent it costs me about $50.00 per week. So am I better to unlock my BB?
