View Full Version : Question about Data Allowance

I live in the UK, and I'm about to start a plan with the Carrier Orange for a BB 8320.
Thing is, all their plans only provide 6mb data allowance, which includes email, and internet.
My question to you guys is, would this 6mb be enough for an average joe, who checks email everyday, and occasionally surfs the web? How quickly is 6mb going to be used up?
Thanks.

Orange have a new 250mb blackberry with talk plan! Get that as 6mb does not go that far.
It is a business package available to consumers on request.
I posted a link to it before. Do a search for the Vodafone UK thread in the curve 83XX section and you will find it there.
Let me know if you can't find it & I will try and post the link via wap.

You may be ok Snownation if you only do email, but I agree with Foxglove, you should get the the most you can afford (unlimited, if possible). There is so much you can do, and I believe you will feel very restricted if you don't have more.

Thanks for those comments, I'm in a dilemma at the moment deciding between 2 phones. 8320 and 8310.
The package for these are about the same price.
the [Orange] 8320 only offers 6mb... but has got wifi.
the [O2] 8310 offers "unlimited" data, but has not got wifi.
What is the small print for O2's unlimited? 250mb cap?
I run a small business, but use a commercial email, so I would need to answer customer emails frequently.
Suggestions?

This is oranges 250mb terms & conditions page, their website does not seem to be up to date as regards this 250mb package. This can be added to a wifi device.

I do not have wifi myself but oranges wifi has UMA technology & emails and calls can be made via wifi. I suggest you research this,
You asked about o2. Their unlimited is 200mb (unlimited emails and browsing)

Does the UK have UMA support? I thought it was just an american thing.
Thanks for those links, the T&C page is not reachable, broken link.
I do appreciate your help Foxglove, and thanks for the assistance.

Foxglove, FYI put url in brackets in front and /url in brackets after the URL. That will make it clickable and it will display as a link.
