Is there a way to use the BB8800 as an aircard for my laptop?
Welcome to the forums.
Yes you can, assuming that your data plan is set up to allow Phone as Modem, or PAM services.

I used my Alltel 8830 as a modem when I couldnt find a connection while travelling. I never got billed any different (I didnt have the extra data plan).
This probably varies carrier to carrier, and maybe I just got lucky.

Search on Tether. Depending upon your carrier, you might need a plan add on or you will find a might big data bill !

It's called tethering. And it not billed at the same rate 99% of the time.
I'm not sure about TMobile but Sprint includes tethering at no additional cost. Verizon, as usual charges extra. It depends on your carrier.

I am with T-Mobile. With the BB data plan I have no extra charge for tethering. I use it frequently. You might call and check with them to verify your coverage.
