I recently tried to install the desktop sw for a friend's 8800. He needs to have version 4.2.1.79 in order to install some proprietary application onto his device.
It is the oddest thing. When you go through the install everything is fine, but when you finish, there is no sign of the desktop manager anywhere.It is not listed when you go to start>programs> Blackberry is not there at all. There is no sign of it on the desktop either. I even did a remote session with him to be sure he was doing it right and he was.
I downloaded the sw from the AT&T website which is his provider.
If you go into the RIM folder, there is a device manager icon and you can run the app wizard, but the desktop manager is no where.
Has anyone ever seen such a thing? This is a first for me.
What are your thoughts? Maybe can get the original cd and go from there? He probably does not have it? Any ideas?
