I bought my 8300 from The Carphone Warehouse on Orange UK and it came unlocked, no branding or anything just out of the box. I would like to install the newer OS but Orange UK does not support my phone as they have never sold the handset. They support the 8310 will this work for me? Is there anywhere i can download the latest OS's that are carrier free?

Once you follow the instructions to remove the vendor.xml file, it will be "carrier free" as you ask.
