View Full Version : Palm PIM data to Blackberry 8310 ?????

I have a Clie(Palm) PDA with a lot of Data (addresses etc etc):: and want to copy to my new BB 8310.
How the devil do I do that?????? regards:?

Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and use the 'Switch Device' wizard.
It'll move all the data from your Palm directly to the BlackBerry.

Welcome to the forums.

The Switch Device wizard will do it, or you can set about migrating first to Outlook and then syncing Outlook with the BB. Other solutions exist as well, but these are the most popular.

I just switched back to BB Curve from a Palm Treo. I have tried to import my data from the Palm using the "Switch Device Wizard" with no luck. I connect both devices to the computer and run the wizard. I select the "other device" option and then click next. The next screen is grayed out, I cannot select any option. I have also tried running the Palm desktop software at the same time with no luck.

Make sure you have the latest version of the Palm Desktop.

I had version 4.1 but I installed Palm desktop 6.2.2 last night with the same results. One think I noticed when I run the Palm desktop now it says Palm Desktop by Access on startup.

I think 4.1 was the version that was known to work. Not sure why it didn't work in your case. Can you switch to Outlook and export your info to Outlook? Then you can sync Outlook with the BB.

Will Outlook bring all the Palm data over? Also I wonder if it is a Vista thing? I may try to install both Palm and BB desktop software on my XP laptop and try it.

Turns out it was the version of Palm desktop I had. I thought I had 4.1 but I had version 4.2. I downloaded 6.2.2. Neither one worked. Palm lets you download old versions and I downloaded 4.1.4. It looked like it was going to work but it locks up on calendar event 496 out of 502. I am not sure what is going on now. Maybe I should have downloaded 4.1 even though it was for Win95.

****I got it to work, I had a daily reminder that must of locked it up. I deleted it and it went all the through with the transfer. It did not bring over my reminders that had no time associated with them but at least it brought over my contacts.****
